Center Makor is a non-profit organization created for charitable purposes by Russian speaking immigrants from the former USSR now residing in Massachusetts. The goal of the Center is to stimulate and grow a strong Russian-Jewish identity through enthusiasm for culture and through desire of Russian-speaking parents to educate their children about the traditions of their ancestors and build pride in their own identity. Center Makor is the only entity solely dedicated to providing cultural and educational enrichment for Russian-speaking immigrants in Massachusetts.
The Center brings under one roof educational, cultural, and other activities designed primarily but not exclusively – for the Russian community and opens possibilities for interaction between Russians and the general public.
Center Makor provides space for various activities to over 30 Russian community groups and offers to them technical assistance with organizing of cultural, social, educational and other events.
Center Makor produces a weekly community newsletter distributed electronically to currently more than 3,400 subscribers.
